This one will be brief. Paul Ryan is beloved by the Tea Party because he's willing to take tough political stands to do something about the deficit, right?
Well, let's talk about what created the deficit in the first place. It's not, as Republicans would have you believe, entitlements like Medicare and Social Security that created the deficit. What created the deficits we face today, in rough chronological order, were largely:
-the Bush tax cuts
-the Afghanistan war
-the Iraq war
-TARP
Guess who voted for all of these? That's right: the Republicans'"deficit-cutting" Vice Presidential nominee, Paul Ryan.
Now, Ryan wants to use the deficits he played a part in creating as an excuse to turn Medicare into a voucher program. This doesn't mean he's serious about deficits; it just means he prioritizes wars and handouts to gazillionaires over senior citizens having access to health care.
In other words: he's not a deficit hawk; he's a sociopath. Much like the rest of the Tea Party.
